Felipe Cuartas Moreno

Felipe Cuartas is a Colombian visual artist, screenwriter, and cinematographer based in Leipzig, Germany. He recently completed a Master’s degree in Media Art at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. Raíces, his graduation short film, shot on 16mm, will have its international premiere in the Official Competition of the Sitges Film Festival. As a Director of Photography, he develops visual systems that support the dramaturgy and emotional language of each story. His approach to image-making is shaped by an interdisciplinary background in graphic design, art history, and literature. His work explores the relationship between humans and nature, as well as dysfunctional family dynamics, often incorporating elements of fantasy and horror. He is particularly interested in analogue processes and materials, as well as the use of practical effects in the creation of images.
